Pontiac Aztecs

Post by dannybva on Sun May 17, 2009 8:51 am

When they first came out and up until Breaking Bad came out, I'd see one and think what an ugly car. Now when I see one I think Walt and Breaking Bad.

I remember hearing that the writers purposely picked the ugliest possible car for Walt.

I don't think they look as bad as everyone says actually.

There's a BB IMCDB (yes, that's internet movie cars database!) with some pics: http://www.imcdb.org/movie_903747-Breaking-Bad.html

I think part of what set me against them at first was that the first one I saw was bright yellow, I HATE yellow.

Most people I know think they are rather atrociously ugly cars, I personally however don't think they are that bad. (not to go off topic they are actually better cars with a lot of room then some people might realize but anyway.......) I think the car actually fits the character of Walt rather well, it just seems the right car for him to be driving....especially with the spare tire on the rear passenger's side and the faded paint job. And for practical reasons it makes sense to have a car like that if you had a family member with crutches.

I read in the original pilot script the car was actually worse (A 1991 Nissan station wagon)

I agree it does fit Waly. They are supposed to be roomy, I seem to remember them being marketed as perfect for camping or something like that.

LOL. I would have to agree with that statement. I mean damn Walt at least fix it up or something. The engine doesn't sound too good, and he's been driving around with a broken windshield and missing hubcaps for who knows how long. Walt is supposed to be the neat and tidy type with ocd. An ocd person wouldn't let their car fall apart like that, even a crappy car like the Aztec. They would take care of it. But it is funny. LOL.
