Over

Episode Description (Click to reveal):
Spoiler:

Hah, the Home improvements part sounds just like the episode of Malcolm in the Middle where Hal and Louis cant have sex for a month and he spends the whole time doing up the house.

I saw a tiny clip on AMC during a run of Batman Begins; it shows Walt and Hank staring each other down with Alpha Male looks on their faces; Walt even smacks Hank's hand away.

Looks like it's going to be an intense scene; can't wait until tomorrow!

Oh, and by the way, great forum!

Less then 24 hours away....... Very Happy Sounds like it might be another slower-paced episode, but not without it's own brand of tension, this time familial. I'm sure the last 3 episodes will give us our fill of drug/underworld action.

Rob-The home improvement bit did remind me of the exact same thing Smile

Can't wait for this episode! It seems like a real turning-point for Walt.

He was liberated by his death sentence. Now that he knows what that freedom from fear and doubt feels like, he will hunger for more of it.

btw Thank you for starting a proper forum for this amazing show! I've been following the board over at IMDB, but a dedicated forum is much better. Thank you!

I couldn't help but scream and laugh at the party scenes. Walt's speech was just spectacularly bitter and depressing that it was a shock to see him actually show his feelings on the remission to his family and friends. And the mini show-off between Walt/Heisenberg and Hank was just awesome to watch considering we're definitely going to get a much bigger show off between them later in the future if/when Hank ever finds out about Walt's second job!

As much as I want Jesse and Jane to be happy together (because she really brings out the good in him), I understand her not wanting her father to find out about the "relationship". She's an ex-addict now sleeping with a drug dealer with tendencies to do drugs himself. If he wants to have a healthy relationship with her, he would definitely have to find another line of work (but we wouldn't want that to happen, now would we?)

And the ending--wow. Awesome song, and awesome acting by Bryan Cranston. I'm glad to see him back in the game!

Wow.. the beginning, wonder who the body's are. Was that Walt's car at the scene? The Walt and Hank scene was good aswell, I wonder if Walt was just being a jerk, or if he was already drunk to begin with.. Hanks previous job of the boiler was pretty funny. Also glad to see Walt realising he likes dealing finally and the final scenes were great. Other than that though, seemed a bit of a filler episode, with the Skylar and Jesse + Jane stories leading to the finale.

That episode punched me in the stomach. The Walt/Hank face off was intense yet understated, and I certainly wonder who's in the body bags.

Seeing Walt try to accept things and use home improvement as a crutch was wonderful writing, culminating into his final acceptance of who he really is now when he confronts those two low-level thugs outside of the hardware store. That scene was pure epicness.

Man, this is the best show on TV.

The Beginning was Intense. The sound alone is like Death. Hmm Crayons and a Square watch face. Not Walt's watch, he wears a digital Timex.

The scene with Walt J.R. Throwing up in the pool had me cracking up. I can't count how many times I've seen that done.

Plus the imitation Jesse in the Hardware store was classic. His eyes all red and fucking ass hanging out. Looking all spooked..he was like WTF!??

And the ending--wow. Awesome song

Agreed Awesome song.

I don't know if any of you know this, but the pink teddy from the opening can be seen in the TwaughtHammer video and apparently in Jesse's house at one point. Presumably he gives it Walt for his daughter.

...while that sounds like an interesting spoiler, I can only assume Jesse gives the bear to Walt to give to his daughter. I don't imagine Skyler would cotton to Jesse handing it over himself, considering the past and how Walt is trying to seperate his family life from his rising status as a drug lord.

I remember seeing that bear in the music video as well Rob, I'm thinking it is either

A. A symbol for something else
B. Jesse giving it to Walt/baby Holly (which would certainly fit into Jesse's character, I bet the actual scene where he would give it to Walt would be pretty awkward and funny.

As for "Over" it felt in many ways like a bridge episode, but that doesn't mean I didn't like it. While it lacked action and deep "drama" not every episode needs them to work. Some of my favorite episodes thus far have had mostly "character" stuff (Grey Matter and the Pilot for example)

I liked the Party scene, Especially noticeable was how it was another party........contrast to his birthday party. At his birthday party, Walt didn't have the stones to say no to Hank about letting Walt Jr play with his gun, and just put up with, and was overshadowed by him the whole time. Now, he did a complete 180 and let into him (I'm sure with no small amount of alcohol in his system) The main thing that made me angry with the way he acted was his reaction to Walt Jr, I didn't like it one bit.

I'm liking Jane/Jesse-good chemistry and their characters seem good for each other. Jesse's drawings were funny.

Walt's home improvement projects remind me of my own father..........when he couldn't work for a month. Very Happy

Walt was being an idiot in the hardware store at the end.

I'm happy to find this forum, and I hope it takes off, even this late in the season. I've been a BB addict since the first airing of the pilot, and other than the AMC site, there's just not much discussion of the show out there. I read reviews at AV Club, What's Alan Watching, The House Next Door, and Tim Goodman's Spoiled Bastard site (when he gets around to posting) every Monday. It's a rare TV show that makes you think and that merits deep discussion on its writing, cinematography, acting.... the whole package.

On the teddy bear, I'll try to go back and verify, but I believe we have already seen it twice in "Bit by a Dead Bee". First there's a rack of them in the store where Walt strips down, and there's one in the Whites' nursery. I think Vince Gilligan is messing with us by including the bear in different scenes and in the music video!

I had not noticed a pink bear at Jesse's place (old or new place).

I've been catching the podcasts each week, too. There's some good stuff in them. This week, they confirmed the obvious metaphor of Walt's rotten house to his life, and talked about musucal choices for the show. I love the fact that Vince Gilligan recognizes the value of doing the podcasts, and look forward to hearing what they use for commentary when the DVD's come out.

Hank shares his thoughts about the pool incident in today's blog:

Hank Schrader wrote:
As you all know, I am the occasional consumer of a fine, "brewed to silky perfection" bottle of beer. I might even partake of something a bit stronger from time to time. During off hours. And never to excess. Well... hardly ever.

Anyway, I was in a situation the other day that reminded me of that fine line between "lovable drunkard" and "drunk asshole." (And why, of course, it is always wrong for someone not of legal drinking age to drink. Have you ever seen someone vomit in a pool before? I've seen the aftermath, and it ain't pretty. Wouldn't want to have to clean that baby up. Guess that's the darker, non-cougar banging side of the pool boy life.)

So I had this confrontation with someone who had gotten a bit too chummy with Senor Tequila. I've seen this guy drink before, but I wasn't prepared for the little Jekyll and Hyde thing he had going on. (Of course, I could have taken him if it came to a fight, but it would have been a hollow victory. The guy's not exactly tough.) I shouldn't say who this person is -- well, he probably wouldn't mind. Nah, I can't -- best to use some discretion in this case. Let's just say he likes science and shares a name with Harvey Keitel's character in a certain Tarantino film.

Now, I'm not upset at this person. I mean, hell, I've been there. I think we've all been there at some point. One minute you're innocently dancing on a table, and the next you're... well, let's just say that's why I personally don't drink Jagermeister anymore.

Oh man! It's hard though now that I've seen this thing in SkyMall. It's this machine that you put your bottle of Jager in, and it chills your shots. How great is that? Of course, I can't justify actually buying it. The sucker's like, 170 bucks or something completely obscene like that. But maybe my brother-in-law can come up with something. (He kind of owes me one. The reason why is unimportant.) You know, some dry ice or liquid nitrogen or sub-zero chamber deal. Guy's brain has to be useful for something other than cleaning up at Trivial Pursuit, right?

ah man i bet alot of other people did to including me the glasses are so much alike you cant tell the shape is pretty much identicle only way i could really tell if they were different is if they had a different shape or maby a small bit of different coloring on them but the scenes were they showed the glasses were black and white so that wouldnt matter
