Tuco Salamanca

Portrayed by: Raymond Cruz

Tuco is a sociopathic Mexican drug kingpin who becomes Walter and Jesse's meth distributor towards the end of season one. He is unpredictable and prone to violent outbursts, but surprisingly respects Walter because of his superior product, intelligence, business style, and guts. After the DEA raids his headquarters in season two, he kidnaps Walter and Jesse, planning to smuggle them to Mexico to cook in a superlab. The two attempt to poison Tuco with posioned meth, but he is alerted to the attempt by his invalid uncle. Tuco nearly executes Jesse as a result, but Jesse fights back, shooting him in the stomach. Tuco is then killed by Hank, who arrives afterward by chance. His death earns Hank a promotion at work, but causes him to have guilt and panic attacks.

I liked the Tuco character and thought of him as a firecracker; foreboding when unlit, because you wonder how big the bang will be, only to see the bang wasn't so big as it was long; sort of like a roman candle, if you will.

He was a fascinating foil, though I hope somewhere down the line, Walt and Jesse are given a foil who's not only sociopathic, but is cold and calculating, rather than just outlandish, as it were.

As unpredictable as Tuco, could be...I really enjoyed his character & was disappointed, to see him killed off, so soon!
Hopefully, he can be "revived" in some flash-back scenes? Very Happy

As much I would like to see him, because he pulled off the scary, psycho, meth-fueled druglord. It's not happening. He says in an interview he asked to be killed off 'cause the role was to hard for him.

Heres the link for the Interview

With him wanting to be written out because of how demanding the role was, I can't help but wonder what they originally had planned with the extended episodes he was slated to guest-star in...

I imagine they probably would have protracted the "Tuzo may or may not be stalking us" story, and as much as I liked Tuzo, I'm actually glad they didn't.
