Hit you guys up with some street cred. You should look into fixing your avatars though.
Yep. Weeds is a good example of that. It's just so phony. It's like desperate housewives or something. Can't even come close to touching Breaking Bad. And to think Vince said that if he had known about Weeds before undertaking Breaking Bad he wouldn't of done it because he thought the shows were too similar. God how wrong he was about that! And thank God he didn't know about it prior to making Breaking Bad!wtwhizz wrote:I want the darkness. I want the depravity. It's real and it's amazing. I get so tired of these shows that try and act all badass and then when push comes to shove they chicken out.
Me too! Damn your's and Ray's posts are good!wtwhizz wrote:I'm jittery with anticipation for this finale. I just know I'm going to go into withdrawls after it's over, too. I don't know if I'll make it until early 2010 to watch more episodes. This show is honestly like a dose of the drug it revolves around!
Maybe, or possibly an Easter Egg as Ray would say. Wow, haven't heard that term in quite a while, and Easter Egg never, had to google it. Boy I'm loving the lingo and intellectual conversations going on here. You guys are stimulating my mind! Street Cred sent.drexholt wrote:Can I get some cred for revisiting the plane idea? The Walter White thing is creepy, but would he name him that at the inception of the series? Plus "737" "Down" "Over"..."ABQ". Anybody think of the last episode, yet? It is probably just a Red Herring, anyway. Maybe the Third Season publicity was a hoax....

I liked The Shield too because of that aspect. The ending was brutal to watch, Lems fragging was brutal to watch, but those were things essential to the reality of the situations. They had to happen. I don't think Sunday is going to be a happy end.Personally, that's the reason I watch this show. It doesn't pull punches. The Shield was another great show that worked the same way.
I want the darkness. I want the depravity. It's real and it's amazing. I get so tired of these shows that try and act all badass and then when push comes to shove they chicken out.

- Spoiler:
- I hate to say it, but either Jr or Skylar or both are going to die. Maybe, Skylar/Holly is the Phoenix. That is about the saddest thing I could think of...Walt Jr. at least:)

Yeah I noticed that you were about to graduate too. Congratulations! Lol. Sent you some street cred.
Ray did you ever think about becoming a writer? You are very good at it and it seems like it comes naturally to you.
Trueblue-
You are too kind, even if you did assume that I'm not a writer! Actually, I'm an architect at the University of California. If I seem to write well, it's probably because I'm intimidated by the British hosts of Grey Matter and feel I have to try to make a decent showing for the U.S.!
So how does the street cred thing work? Are we supposed to give cred to posters who we think are making good or profound points?

Re: 2x13 #20 Finale "ABQ" 31 May 2009
Based on that USA Day review, yikes, I'm getting a really bad feeling about Jr surviving season 2, even more then I had before. I think the only three "safe" characters are Walter, Jesse, and Skyler. Skyler is gone from the house I think before the episode is half over though, then the sh** will hit the fan.
Re: 2x13 #20 Finale "ABQ" 31 May 2009
I was thinking the exact same thing. What the heck is that in your avatar btw, a mint mojito? Lol.drexholt wrote:

Re: 2x13 #20 Finale "ABQ" 31 May 2009
Hello, my fellow Badsters-
One of my favorite TV critics, Tim Goodman (from my home town, San Francisco) wrote a great BrBa review for the San Francisco Chronicle today. It is titled "The Finale of Greatness". I dove in, knowing how much Tim loves, LOVES the show, and how he does more than his share to spread the word far and wide.
Once into the text, I faltered. I took a double take and reread the opening line: "The second-best series on television - "Breaking Bad" on AMC - will end its brilliant second season on Sunday."
Now, mind you, I am a Mad Men freak.
I am a co-moderator on a MM group. My photo avatar on the AMC site is a period portrait of myself with a pipe and highball, trying my best to look like a relic of 1960. Mad Men is brilliant, extremely well-written, and the acting is superb. It deserves the accolades and awards it has received.
But something has happened in the last three months. Writing? Breaking Bad has broken new ground, and kept its audience on the edge of its seats. It is gutsy, unafraid, irreverent, cutting edge, tender, unrepentent, and real. Production? There is no small-screen show, weekly, miniseries, you name it, to match the beauty and artistry that the directors of Breaking Bad have splashed across the screen this year. Acting? Puh-leeze. The ensemble of Breaking Bad has stepped up and matched the breakthrough performance of Brian Cranston this year, while he has given the performance of his career. And as much as Cranston deserved that Emmy for Outstanding Actor in a Drama last year, his work this year blows that AWAY. I do expect many of the cast to be nominated this year, and I will hope for justice.
Bottom line: I love Tim Goodman, he's an insightful and humorous TV columnist. And I love Mad Men. And I love AMC for taking a chance on both these shows. But, as of about four weeks ago, the best show on television is Breaking Bad. That may change, again, but that's how I see it today.
Thank you for letting me vent.

Btw thanks for filling us in on the details about your avatar over on amc. I had wondered about that. Cool.
Another good review, this one from the Los Angeles Times, and also revealing somthing about the pink stuffed animal.

RCH-LOL at your comment about us being like a bunch of druggies. I feel the same way, lol! BB is my drug that I need a weekly fix of, and I don't know if I'm going to survive the next nine months!!!
For everyone who said there's NO WAY a plane crash will happen, consider all the evidence:
Four episodes have been titled "737", "Down", "Over", and "ABQ". Put them together and it says "737 down over ABQ". And it just so happens that those first three episodes I named were the ONLY ones to have flash forwards of the pink bear and the body bags. ABQ is the name of the airport in Albuquerque.
When Walt was figuring the amount of "737" in the season premiere, you could hear a plane flying overhead.
Hazmat suits would be required for cleanup after a plane crash because of jet fuel being spilled.
And perhaps the most telling piece of evidence:
We know for a fact that there is an air traffic controller in the season finale.
If I'm completely wrong about this, I'll be the first to admit it after Sunday. But remember, I was right about Jane from the beginning when everyone else loved her!
Weird little coincidence here: I was just looking up different news articles, and last month, there was a plane crash in New Mexico that killed a man named Mike FLYNN. Kinda strange...

I may have to miss work on Monday because I know I won't be able to sleep Sunday night after the episode is over.
I can see myself calling in "Yeah, I can't come into work today, I've got a bad case of Heisenburg"
My boss would say "Holy crap....Heisenburg?? That shit sounds serious....is that like the Swine Flu? If so, keep your ass at home!"

That was a great review. Not too spoilerish, and full of more praise and Emmy predictions. I think they're right: It will be very difficult to sleep after the finale!

- I'm glad we're all on the same page here, and there's even more evidence (an ATC named Walter White who was invlolved in a crash). The equal spacing of the episodes you mentioned adds more clever 'Easter Egg' kind of evidence. I still have to wonder how it comes down, and don't want to know before tomorrow.
Sorry to have come to this forum so late in the season. I will enjoy the next few days, but will miss you guys during the long hiatus.

This is what Newsday has to say after viewing the season finale :
But this finale - yes, this one, entitled "ABQ" - quite literally made me double up in pain in the closing seconds. I drew in my breath, held it, then released it. I then posted this blog.
A promise, sworn on any book of faith you would wish me to swear this promise upon: This Sunday's "Breaking Bad," coupled with with last Sunday's "Phoenix," is the most extraordinary finale of the season. This is like nothing you have ever seen.
We are in for a ride folks..... and I personally cannot wait.

Chem first thing in the morning? That sucks. In high school I had Honors Physics 1st period which was BEFORE homeroom, so it started at like 7:30

Man, I feel for you. it'll be hard to sleep after watching this finale, from what I've read. It's not unusual for me to lie awake for an hour after watcjing a BB episode (usually twice) and this one promises to be disturbing on many levels.
Call in "Heisenberg". They can't expect a person suffering from Heisenberg to function on Monday morning.

I don't think I've ever looked forward to an episode of any show as much as I am to this one. And I have to echo what a lot have said, it's gonna be painful having to wait till the next season lol, especially if the finale ends with a cliff-hanger as I'm sure it will.

Rob-
I could live with two more seasons. Vince Gilligan is taking questions on the AMC site for a post after the finale. My question to him dealt with just that: how long can the series go on and maintain a level of desperation and urgency. It just can't go on forever at the pace it has, and at the pace we've come to expect.
