Yeah you're right. It is odd that they have an ATC guy in there. I wonder what's up with that too. I guess we will have to wait 'till Sunday to find out.

Maybe, but for now I stand behind my Skyler leaving town theory; though that can change between now and Sunday.
Oh, I think you're right about Skyler leaving. I just don't think she's "leaving on a jet plane", to quote John Denver.

With the amount of tequila I'll probably drink this weekend/that night It might be necessary.

Has anyone here seen the commercials for the finale on AMC? Not the preview that was shown right after Phoenix. They were regular commercial break commercials.
- Spoiler:
- Apparently Skyler finds Walt's money stash. She appears to be leaving Walt, but maybe she's just going out to buy some more smokes to deal with the stress of finding out that Walt is a drug lord.

I saw that several times last night. I had a different take:
- Spoiler:
- Walt says "I'll tell you everything", and Skyler says "I'm afraid to know". I could see finding the money leading to this, but didn't see any evidence that that is what happened. Did you see a different clip?
Also, Jane in a body bag. Can't think of any other big revelations. They didn't address the carnage at the White residence at all.

My theory (and though it's only a theory, don't read this if you're going to be mad at me for spoiling):
- Spoiler:
ABQ is the airport disignation, the episode involves an ATC, and I think a plane goes down. Is it coincidence that it goes down on the Whites' house? Or does Donald have something to do with it? He talks about "recruits with no experience " in "Phoenix". Is he an air marshall, pilot, something like that? AMC's synopsis says "Jane's dad Donald's grief leads to tragedy". I think the body bags could be almost anybody and not necessarily characters that we know. On the other hand, an interview had a cast member saying that the finale is "very sad".
That's actually pretty brilliant. I've been wondering what Donald does, since he talked about 'training backup', but it didn't sound like was with law enforcement because when he wanted to call the cops on Jesse & Jane, he just dialed the regular number and asked for 'someone who can help' - someone in law enforcement would know exactly who to call. So it makes sense that he would be working there, especially with the title of this episode.

- Spoiler:
- I saw the same clip where Walt says "I'll tell you everything". I don't have any evidence that Skyler finding the money leads to the "Skylar leaving Walt" scene, but I think it does. It's probably a combination of Skyler finding the money, Walt confirming Skyler's suspicions about his second cell phone, and possibly something else that hasn't been shown in any commercial or preview.

Maybe this discussion needs to move to the Spoiler thread!
What I take away from the preview, the commercial and AMC's sneak peek is:

- The sneak peek on AMC shows Walt getting caught talking about his second phone. The commercial clip has Skyler calling Walt a liar. So who knows what else might be revealed to her. At any rate, she might be fortunate to have left if their house ends up in the middle of some kind of sh*tstorm!

Re: 2x13 #20 Finale "ABQ" 31 May 2009
Yeah right when he's about to go under for surgery Skyler asks him if he brought his cell phone and he goes "which one". That's definitely the beginning of it but we don't know if that alone is what causes her to leave. Does she find the money after that, who knows? I guess we'll just have to wait 'till Sunday to find out.
Good question! I think that besides trying to figure out who's in those body bags that's the other big question that's been on everybody's mind. I'm pretty sure there isn't going to be anything else on tv that compares to Breaking Bad. We'll just have to wait it out. Transformers will be out June 24 but that's about it. Lol.Lparsons7981 wrote:Epic..........but WHAT WILL I DO WHEN IT'S OVER!!!!!!! lol
Are these actually spoilers though? I don't think they are because none of us know what's actually going to happen. We are only speculating. I thought a spoiler is when somebody has seen something in advance and then tells us what's going to happen. Like when certain mangas are released in Japanese before the English version comes out, somebody will read the Japanese version and then post a spoiler telling us what's going to happen before the English version is officially released.rkex wrote:Maybe this discussion needs to move to the Spoiler thread!

I guess my point about spoilers is that there are plenty of purists who don't even want to know what's in the previews. I'm not one of them, mind you, but there are plenty of those sorts around.
For me, I can't help but catch every bit of preview that I can and wrack my brain trying to figure out where the story will go. Having said that, I'd be disappointed if I found out too much before viewing.

I think that they probably should be considered spoilers since there are people that don't watch the previews, commercials, or sneak peaks. But I don't think we should move this discussion unless Rob tells us that we should. As long as we keep spoiler tagging the stuff we see in previews, commercials and sneak peeks we should be fine.

I try to be careful about what I say out of respect for those who intentionally don't watch the previews and commercials, though I don't expect anyone else to and people need to be wary of message boards because a lot of times there is that one person who gets their jollies by ruining it for those who hate "spoilers."

I think Saul will end up being very instrumental in all of this. Remember, the Spanish speaking and stuff? He also probably had it spread around that Spooge's woman was responsible for the ATM, thereby destroying Heisenberg and Jesse's street cred. Also, there's a pretty intense review of the finale in Newsweek that gives a small spoiler away.

WOW!
That is an incredible review! DO NOT read it if you don't want to be exposed to any spoilers (there are small ones). It's in Newsday, by the way, not Newsweek. You can Google "Breaking Bad Finale" to find it.
To read such an emotional response from a professional reviewer is bringing tears to this middle-aged man's eyes. It just sounds as if it will be a very emotionally jarring experience. Here is a non-spoilish excerpt:
So, for the guy who posted that he doesn't trust professional reviewers, I hope you trust this one.

But this finale - yes, this one, entitled "ABQ" - quite literally made me double up in pain in the closing seconds. I drew in my breath, held it, then released it. I then posted this blog.
A promise, sworn on any book of faith you would wish me to swear this promise upon: This Sunday's "Breaking Bad," coupled with with last Sunday's "Phoenix," is the most extraordinary finale of the season. This is like nothing you have ever seen.
And once again, a prediction: "Breaking Bad" will be nominated for a best drama Emmy this July. If there is any justice, and often there is not, "Breaking Bad" will win in September. This is the best program on television, commercial or pay.

Me too! Not watching the previews is just ridiculous. Lol. I'm actually mad that I haven't seen the one that's airing now. I may have to see if I can catch it tonight. Anyhow I don't see how it could take away from the enjoyment of watching the show at all. It could only add to it, the anticipation, trying to figure out what's going to happen like you said. Peace!rkex wrote:I guess my point about spoilers is that there are plenty of purists who don't even want to know what's in the previews. Good review, it's mainly movie and music critics I distrust. If anyone wants to read it in its entirety: http://weblogs.newsday.com/entertainment/tv/blog/2009/05/breaking_bad_the_finale.html

Exactly. It sounds like it really rattled the newsday reviewer, and like it's much more disturbing than I was expecting.
I am anxious with anticipation and dreading the emotional punch to the gut that seems inevitiable.

Guys this may end up being a MAJOR spoiler but here goes.
- Spoiler:
- By James26 on May 28, 2009 7:51 PM
Oh my God, you guys...read this story about a plane crashing in a neighborhood in 1986. This may have nothing to do with Breaking Bad, but just take a look at the name of the air traffic controller in this article...unbelievable...
http://allyoucansnoob.com/?p=89
By James26 on May 28, 2009 7:29 PM
Holy crap, I just realized something else...the three episodes where they showed flash-forwards of the pink bear and the bodies were "737", "Down", and "Over". Oh my God...something bad is coming...
By DepraveDave on May 28, 2009 5:27 PM
"737 down...over abq"
(in air traffic control/radio voice)
By James26 on May 28, 2009 5:35 PM
OMG, Dave, that's freakin' brilliant!!! "Down" was 3 episodes after "737", and "Over" was 3 episodes before "ABQ". Are the episode titles spelling out a code for us???
By Blue Runner on May 28, 2009 4:28 PM
hazmat would come in to clean up after a plane crash look it up
By AdeL77 on May 29, 2009 8:32 PM
In the the first episode of season 2, when Walt was talking to Jessie in the car about needing $737 thousand, and we hear what sounds like a plane, it shows Walt holding a skull key chain immediately after he says "737 thousand Dollars". Is this another clue that means there will be death related to a 737 plane?
I don't really believe in one theory or the other, but I am considering all the possibilities.

Can I get some cred for revisiting the plane idea? The Walter White thing is creepy, but would he name him that at the inception of the series? Plus "737" "Down" "Over"..."ABQ". Anybody think of the last episode, yet? It is probably just a Red Herring, anyway. Maybe the Third Season publicity was a hoax....

Re: 2x13 #20 Finale "ABQ" 31 May 2009
How far down does the rabbit hole go?
Personally, that's the reason I watch this show. It doesn't pull punches. The Shield was another great show that worked the same way.
I want the darkness. I want the depravity. It's real and it's amazing. I get so tired of these shows that try and act all badass and then when push comes to shove they chicken out.
I'm jittery with anticipation for this finale. I just know I'm going to go into withdrawls after it's over, too. I don't know if I'll make it until early 2010 to watch more episodes. This show is honestly like a dose of the drug it revolves around!
